We stayed for 2 nights in the Alila Villas Uluwatu, and it was beyond our expectations. Without doubt, this was the most beautiful hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The Alila chain has several other hotels in Bali as well (Ubud & Mangis) and 14 worldwide. This excellent hotel is located in Uluwatu, the surfspot of Bali. It’s located on a cliff, like most of the beach clubs and other resorts in Uluwatu.
We stayed in a one-bedroom villa, including a private pool. They even have up to three-bedroom villas, which have a surface of 2000 square meters and an infinity pool. Crazy right? Next to this, the hotel owns an excellent gym, a large main pool, two restaurants, a spa and a library.
My favorite part about hotels? The breakfast! And this on certainly did not disappoint. The Alila Uluwatu uses a menu with several small dishes to choose from. Each day, they have a different menu, so their guests have plenty of different choices if they stay a couple of days! You can’t start the day in a better way.
They say that Bali has one of most beautiful sunsets in the world, and believe me, it’s true. The first evening, we went down the beach, which was quite a hike. It took us 5 minutes going from the hotel to the beach. The stairs were super small and steep. They even suggest guests to ask for assistance from the hotel, when going down the beach. The sunset we attended was incredible. If you don’t believe me, check the pictures below. Every color passed through the sky: pink, orange, blue, purple… It’s was magnificent. When deciding to go down during sunset, take insect repellent with you. I got stung several times during our short stay at the beach, but this was definitely worth it.
Alila Uluwatu hosted several celebrities the past year. Hugh Jackman booked a 4-night in the three-bedroom villa. After 1 night, he decided to prolong his stay up to 10 nights in total, because he was so amazed by the hospitality of the Alila. Oh, and he gave his personal butler 2000$ tip at the end of his stay. Also one of the famous Twilight vampires, Kellan Lutz, slept in one of the villas a few weeks ago.
