Men’s Guide to Summer Hair Care

Gone are the days when hair care was only for women. Times are slowly changing, and luckily for us, men also pay attention to the way their hair looks. Or at least some men.  Summer is a tricky season – it’s extremely hot, very often we cannot cope with the heat; it’s difficult for us to go out of our air-conditioned living room into the kitchen to make us a cup of coffee, let alone think about all the products we need to put on our hair to make it look nice and healthy. Men know less about this matter, and that’s why we will try to make this as painless as possible. So, guys, bookmark this page or take a pen and a paper and take notes:

A soothing massage

Raise your hand if you don’t like a good massage. Now that almost no hands are in the air, let’s talk about head massages. Apart from providing you with a fantastic feeling in your scalp, this is also essential to improve the blood circulation in your head. This, consequently, removes any waste from your hair and distributes all the scalp oils evenly. On top of that, it makes your hair grow better as you’re making sure that your hair follicles get all the space they need to grow. It’s a win-win situation.

A daily hair wash

During winter, we don’t wash our hair on a daily basis, and that’s perfectly logical. But during summertime, this is one of the things that you should incorporate in your daily beauty routine. Since you’re probably constantly outside, in the polluted city, sweating every minute of every day, it’s normal to wash your hair when you get home to remove all the grime and sweat. Apart from that, this is amazing for keeping dandruff away, something that everyone who suffers from this nuisance should do. Some might say that a greasy scalp is sometimes healthy, which is valid to some extent, so you don’t have to wash your hair every day of the week, but make sure that you do it more frequently than during wintertime.

Know your products

Using poor-quality products can definitely impair the health of our hair. This is even more serious for guys, as we tend to have short hair and if it’s unhealthy, it will show. If you want to style your hair in the best possible way, always go with a high-quality hair styling wax that will keep your hair both styled and healthy. Never pick a hair product only because of its price – cheap products are cheap for a reason. The same goes for shampoos; go with the ones that are made for your hair type. One silver lining is the fact that guys do not really need a lot of hair products, so we can invest in these two that will make our hair stronger, better and shinier.

Keep your hair short

Even if you’re rocking long hair, make sure that your hair during summertime is shorter. Firstly,  it will help you deal with dandruff – it appears when our scalp’s sweating, and the shorter the hair, the less your scalp will sweat. You want to avoid any oil buildup on your scalp. Secondly, this is a logical step since you want to avoid the blowdryer. When we apply excessive heat on our hair, it will result in a poor quality of our hair growth, and it will most certainly have a harmful effect on our hair in the long run. Finally, if you’re really locking your long hair or locks, you can always put your hair in a small man-bun (yes, they’re not as fashionable anymore as they were a couple of years ago, but there are very cool 2020 styles). Why not try the samurai-bun as it’s new and it might be fun?

There’s not a lot of things that you can do for your hair during summertime, but the ones that you can do – you should do. Know that poor hair quality and greasy hair always show, and it’s in everyone’s interest (yours included) to have the healthiest hair that you can have.
